Porch Light Portland is looking for a part-time sales associate to come and join our team. The ideal candidate for this position understands our aesthetic and represents our style to our customers. Because our shop is a busy place, it is important to learn and act quickly, confidently and positively and manage many different aspects of the store. ⠀
⠀
This person also possesses:⠀
- Strong customer service skills. You should truly enjoy working with people (customers and co-worker), presenting a positive attitude to welcome all customers, vendors and neighbors into the shop.⠀
⠀
- Self-motivation. If you see a messy cupboard or disorganized area you take the initiative to clean and organize without being asked. You see a display that need reworking and rework it.⠀
⠀
- Ability to and interest in regularly merchandizing the shop to reflect its overall look and feel.⠀
⠀
- Shop and counter skills including re-stocking products and packaging, checking in merchandise, packaging web orders, keeping the shop clean and displays full and fresh, working the sales floor and the front counter.⠀
⠀
- Experience and comfort using, adapting to and learning multiple software programs and social media tools. Some of the applications we use are Word, Excel, Photoshop, WordPress, VEND and Mailchimp. ⠀

- Comfort with social media tools. We currently use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. ⠀
⠀
Position Requirements:⠀
- Previous experience working in a retail environment.⠀
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking and communication ⠀
skills.⠀
- Self-motivated, outgoing personality with a positive ⠀
outlook and excellent people skills.⠀
- Must have weekend and holiday availability.⠀

Hi everyone. Keiran, the owner of Porch Light, is my human. Thought you might want to know a little about me. I don't like to talk about my age, but I what I will tell you is that I only have one tooth, I wheeze, I don't see or hear well and I've been with Keiran for 15 years. One day, I mustered the courage to walk up onto her porch in Oakland, CA. I was hungry, scrawny and really scared, but she took me in, fed me, gave me some shots and a name (Spooky) and we've been together ever since. We've been through a lot together. I wasn't the greatest roommate at first; I peed in her shoes and pooped on her bed, but guys, I'd had it kinda rough before that and I was still learning how to live inside. She moved me to Portland 12 years ago and, at first, I was none too happy about it. 13 hours in a cage, not cool! But I have to admit, it's pretty nice here, so it was a good move. We lost some humans and some other cats whom we loved very much, but she makes an awfully nice garden and we eat well, so life is pretty darned good.

Hey everyone! I just finished my second week of volunteering for @mealsonwheelsamerica where, in addition to getting to wear this super cool hairnet I also get to help people out, hear great stories and put food in people's bellies. They could really use a lot more volunteers and you can commit to as little as a few hours a week. They need drivers, kitchen helpers and packers. DM me if you want more details.
